noun
mosaic egg
In developmental biology, an egg in which the fate of each part is already determined early in cleavage; contrast with 調整卵 (regulative egg).
モザイク卵では、割球を分離すると完全な胚にならない。
In mosaic eggs, separated blastomeres do not develop into complete embryos.
A regulative egg, where early blastomeres can still develop into a complete embryo; opposite developmental pattern to モザイク卵.
From English 'mosaic' + 卵 (egg). The term reflects the mosaic-like predetermined fate map of the early embryo.
