Historical term for a samurai or retainer formally joining a daimyo's household. Not used in modern contexts.

• 戦せん国ごく時じ代だい、浪ろう人にんが主しゅう取どりを願ねがい出でることは珍めずらしくなかった。

  During the Warring States period, it was not uncommon for masterless samurai to request entry into a daimyo's service.
