take, fetch, take up
取 centers on the act of obtaining something and bringing it toward oneself: taking, fetching, or picking something up.
取 combines 耳 (ear) and 又 (hand), originally depicting a hand taking an ear, likely referring to taking ears as trophies in ancient warfare. The modern meaning generalizes to taking or fetching.
A hand (又) reaches out and takes an ear (耳). Imagine grabbing something firmly and bringing it toward you: that is 取, to take.
For シュ, imagine taking a shoe from a shelf: shoe -> シュ, and your hand fetches it.
