Typically used with time expressions to indicate something happening earlier, later, longer, etc., than usual. Can also modify other quantities.

• 今日きょうはいつもより早はやく起おきた。

  I woke up earlier than usual today.

• いつもより人ひとが多おおいね。

  There are more people than usual, aren't there?
