冠木かぶき

Architectural term for a horizontal beam over a gate or door, or a gate with such a beam and often a small roof. The gloss 'gate with a crossbar' and 'roofed gate' refer to the whole structure, while 'lintel' and 'crossbar' refer to the beam itself.
