Archaic honorific (sonkeigo) verb used for exalted beings such as gods, emperors, or high-ranking persons. Equivalent to modern いらっしゃる or おられる. Found in classical Japanese and formal religious contexts.
In the Kojiki, it says 'Amaterasu Ōmikami is in Takamagahara.'
