In the Kojiki, there is a description of a soul called kushimitama that possesses mysterious power.
Variant spelling with okurigana; less common.
From 奇し, “wondrous; mysterious,” and 御魂, “spirit” or “soul.” In Shinto thought, 奇御魂 is the wondrous, transformative aspect of a deity’s spirit.
