Archaic Shinto term for a ritual specialist who identifies which kami or spirit has possessed a shrine maiden (miko). Rarely used outside historical or religious studies.

• 古ふるい神じん社じゃの記き録ろくには、審さ神に者わが巫女みこに憑ついた神かみを判はんじたとある。

  Old shrine records say that a saniwa judged the god that possessed the miko.
