expression
evil outweighs good; one good thing brings many bad things
A yojijukugo proverb meaning that good is scarce and evil is abundant; a small good is easily overwhelmed by a large amount of bad. Often used to lament that one good deed or event is followed by many troubles.
寸善尺魔で、いいことがあったと思ったらすぐに悪いことが起きる。
As the saying goes, one good thing is followed by many bad things; just when I thought something good happened, something bad immediately occurred.
A yojijukugo of uncertain exact origin, combining 寸 (a small measure), 善 (good), 尺 (a larger measure), and 魔 (evil/demon), literally 'an inch of good, a foot of evil'.
