per-character furigana
Technical term in Japanese typography and publishing. Refers to furigana (ruby) where each kana reading is aligned with a single kanji character in a compound, as opposed to モノルビ (mono-ruby) where the reading is placed as a whole over the entire compound. Used in discussions of typesetting, DTP, and educational materials.
