A set phrase expressing a strong wish or hope, often used with conditional or volitional forms. Similar to できれば but more literary and emphatic.

• なろうことなら、もう一いち度ど彼かの女じょに会あいたい。

  If possible, I want to see her one more time.

• なろうことなら、このまま時じ間かんが止とまってほしい。

  If circumstances allow, I wish time would stop just like this.
