Buddhist term for the seventh consciousness, which mistakenly perceives a self and gives rise to ego-attachment. Often encountered in the compound 末那識 (manashiki).

• 唯ゆい識しきでは、末ま那なは常つねに自じ我が執しゅう着ちゃくを起おこすとされる。

  In Yogācāra, manas is said to constantly give rise to self-attachment.
