かしこ

A formal closing phrase used at the end of letters, traditionally by women. Still encountered in very polite or traditional correspondence, but modern letters often use 敬具 or other closings.

• 手て紙がみの最さい後ごに「かしこ」と書かいて結むすんだ。

  She ended the letter by writing 'kashiko' at the bottom.

• 祖そ母ぼからの手て紙がみにはいつも「かしこ」と署しょ名めいしてある。

  My grandmother's letters are always signed with 'kashiko'.
