traditional Japanese picture calendar; pictorial calendar for the illiterate
Historical term for a calendar that used pictures to convey dates and seasonal information, especially for people who could not read. Often associated with the Edo period. Compare with 盲暦 (mekura-goyomi), a similar concept.
