Rare, formal, and literary. Used for physically tying someone up or figuratively restricting freedom. In modern Japanese, 縛る (しばる) is the common equivalent.
古文書には、罪人を縛する記述が見られる。
In old documents, there are descriptions of binding criminals.
The law was criticized as something that restrains individual freedom.
