earplug (traditional Jomon-period jewellery)
Archaic term for a type of earplug worn as jewellery in the earlobe, especially during the Jomon period. Not used for modern earplugs (which are 耳栓 read みみせん).

Earplugs were excavated from Jomon-period ruins.
The kanji 耳 (ear) and 栓 (plug) directly describe the object. The reading じせん is the on'yomi, and the term is now archaic.
