Used when someone perceives a sound or speech in a particular way, often with a subjective or interpretive nuance. Commonly appears in the pattern 〜と聞きなす.

• 彼かれの言こと葉ばを冗じょう談だんと聞ききなした。

• 遠とおくの音おとを波なみの音おとと聞ききなす。
