noun
partial negation
A grammatical term referring to negation that applies only to part of a sentence, not the whole proposition. Often contrasted with 全体否定 (total negation).
「彼はいつも遅刻するわけではない」は部分否定の例です。
"He doesn't always come late" is an example of partial negation.
全体否定 means total negation, where the entire statement is negated, while 部分否定 negates only a part.
Compound of 部分 (part) and 否定 (negation). A straightforward technical term.
