Modern geographic region comprising Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures (usually Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa).
The Kantō region includes Japan's metropolitan area.

Historical term for the eastern half of Japan during the feudal era, roughly east of the Hakone checkpoint.
