Rare, old-fashioned term for cold cooked rice. Modern Japanese usually uses 冷やご飯 or 冷ご飯.
昔はお冷に漬物だけの昼食もあった。
In the old days, lunch was sometimes just cold rice with pickles.
Variant with okurigana や; less common but still seen.
Polite prefix お + 冷 (cold). The reading ひや is a noun form of 冷える (to get cold).
