Used in the pattern Aに劣らずB to mean B is not inferior to A, or B is just as good/strong/etc. as A. Often follows a noun or noun phrase.

• 彼かれは兄あにに劣おとらず優ゆう秀しゅうな学がく生せいだ。

  He is a student no less excellent than his older brother.

• 今年ことしの夏なつは去きょ年ねんに劣おとらず暑あつい。

  This summer is just as hot as last year.
