Hadley circulation; Hadley cell
A large-scale atmospheric circulation pattern in the tropics, with rising air near the equator and descending air in the subtropics. Technical term used in meteorology and climatology.

Named after the English meteorologist George Hadley, who proposed the circulation pattern in the 18th century. The Japanese term is a direct borrowing of the English name plus 循環 (circulation).
