French paradox
Refers to the epidemiological observation that French people have relatively low rates of coronary heart disease despite a diet high in saturated fats, often attributed to red wine consumption.
The French paradox is often discussed in relation to the benefits of red wine.
Borrowed from English 'French paradox', itself a term coined in the late 20th century.
