raster font
A font where each character is stored as a bitmap (pixel grid). Used in computing contexts, often contrasted with vector fonts.
Old printers could only use raster fonts.
When you enlarge a raster font, the jagged edges become noticeable.
Variant with interpunct; less common but sometimes used for clarity.
