Directional term used in travel contexts; the opposite is 上京 (じょうきょう, going to Tokyo). Often used as a suru-verb.

• 来らい週しゅう、仕し事ごとで下げ阪はんする予よ定ていです。

  I plan to go from Tokyo to Osaka on business next week.

• 下げ阪はんの際さいには新しん幹かん線せんを利り用ようします。

  When going to Osaka from Tokyo, I use the Shinkansen.
