Rare literary word. Refers to the act of looking up and down, and by extension one's conduct or demeanor, especially in being obliging or attentive to others. Almost never used in everyday speech.

• 古こ典てんでは「俯ふ仰ぎょう天てん地ちに愧はじず」のように使つかわれる。

  In classical texts, it is used in phrases like 'looking up to heaven and down to earth without shame'.

• 彼かれの俯ふ仰ぎょうはいつも丁てい寧ねいで、周しゅう囲いに気きを遣つかっている。

  His demeanor is always polite and considerate of those around him.
