Typically used for agricultural processes such as cutting grass, grain, or other plants and leaving them to dry in the sun, often for hay or fodder.

• 夏なつの間あいだに刈かり干ほした草くさを冬ふゆの飼し料りょうにする。

  We use the grass cut and dried during the summer as winter feed.

• 稲いねを刈かり干ほしてから脱だっ穀こくする。

  After cutting and drying the rice plants, we thresh them.
