inability to follow Buddhist teachings; person of inferior spiritual capacity
Buddhist term referring to a person whose karmic hindrances or dull faculties make it difficult to practice the Buddha's teachings. Often contrasted with 勝機 (しょうき, superior capacity).
It is taught that those of inferior capacity should first begin with easy practices.
この経典は劣機の衆生を救うために説かれた。
This sutra was expounded to save sentient beings of inferior capacity.
