Nanban trade; Japanese trade with Spain and Portugal (1543–1641)
Historical term referring to the trade between Japan and the Iberian powers during the Age of Discovery, before the sakoku isolation policy.
Through the Nanban trade, firearms and Christianity were introduced to Japan.
The Nanban trade was mainly conducted in Nagasaki and Hirado.
