問とい返かえす

Used when the speaker didn't hear or understand and asks the same question again, or when repeating a question for emphasis.

• 聞きき取とれなかったので、もう一いち度ど問とい返かえした。

  I didn't catch it, so I asked again.

• 先せん生せいは生せい徒とに同おなじ質しつ問もんを問とい返かえした。

  The teacher repeated the same question to the student.

Responding to a question by asking one in return, often to turn the conversation back or challenge the other person.

• 「あなたはどう思おもう？」と彼かれは問とい返かえした。

  "What do you think?" he asked back.

• 批ひ判はんされて、彼かれは逆ぎゃくに相あい手てに問とい返かえした。

  When criticized, he countered by asking the other person a question in return.
