Primarily used for a cat's purring, but can also describe a person making a low, throaty sound of satisfaction or pleasure.

• 猫ねこが喉のどを鳴ならして甘あまえてきた。

  The cat purred and came to me for affection.

• 彼かれは美味おいしいスープを飲のんで、思おもわず喉のどを鳴ならした。

  He drank the delicious soup and let out an involuntary throaty sound of satisfaction.
