JNR city electric train service
Historical term for urban electric train services operated by the former Japanese National Railways (JNR), before privatization in 1987. Now largely replaced by JR lines.
The JNR city electric train service was taken over by JR upon the privatization of Japanese National Railways in 1987.
In the old days, it was normal to go from Shinjuku to Shibuya by JNR city train.
There used to be several JNR city train stations around here.
