A traditional Japanese loom where the weaver sits on the floor and uses a backstrap to tension the warp. Primarily a historical and craft term.
The jibata is a loom that adjusts warp tension with a backstrap wrapped around the waist.
In this region, they still use ground looms to make traditional textiles.
