Used when a thought, idea, memory, or image spontaneously appears in one's mind. Often intransitive, with the thing that comes to mind marked by が.
ふと、彼の顔が思い浮かんだ。
His face suddenly came to mind.
いいアイデアが思い浮かばない。
I can't think of a good idea.
