Technical term for the part of a tire or track that touches the ground, or the area of that contact.
The tread of the tire is worn.
The larger the ground contact area, the better the grip.
Compound of 接地 (せっち, 'grounding, contact with the ground') and 面 (めん, 'surface, face').
