Archaic term referring to the first day of a month or year, especially in the context of the traditional lunisolar calendar. Also used historically to mean the calendar system itself. Not used in everyday modern Japanese.

• 古ふるい文ぶん献けんでは、正せい朔さくを改あらためることは王おう朝ちょうの正せい統とう性せいを示しめす重じゅう要ような行こう為いだった。
