Used when someone does not receive a job offer, especially in the context of job hunting or recruitment. Often appears as あぶれる (verb) or 就職にあぶれる.

• 今年ことしの就しゅう職しょく活かつ動どうでは、多おおくの学がく生せいがあぶれてしまった。

  In this year's job hunting, many students failed to get a job.

• 彼かれは内ない定ていがもらえず、あぶれ組ぐみになってしまった。

  He didn't receive a job offer and ended up among those left out.
