oxpecker
A bird of the genus Buphagus that feeds on ticks and other parasites on large mammals such as cattle and rhinoceroses.
Oxpeckers perch on the backs of cattle and eat ticks.
Compound of 牛 (ushi, 'cattle') and 突き (tsuki, 'pecking'), from the verb 突く (tsuku, 'to peck'). The name describes the bird's habit of pecking at cattle.
