wooden target holder (archery)
Martial arts term for a wooden stand that holds a target in Japanese archery (kyūdō). Also referred to as 侯串.

Compound of 的 (mato, 'target') and 串 (kushi, 'skewer' or 'spit'), referring to a wooden stake or holder for the target. The exact historical derivation is uncertain.
