eucolloid; true colloid
Technical chemistry term for a colloid in which the dispersed particles are large enough to be considered a separate phase, as opposed to a molecular solution. Rare outside specialized contexts.
A eucolloid refers to a system in which the dispersed substance exists as colloidal particles.
Compound of 真正 (しんせい, 'genuine, true') and コロイド (from English 'colloid'). The term is a direct calque of the English 'eucolloid' (from Greek eu- 'true' + colloid).
