眴めくわせ

Archaic term for communicating via eye contact or facial expression. In modern Japanese, 目配せ (めくばせ) is used instead. This form may appear in classical literature or historical contexts.

  In classical texts, 眴せ may be written and read as めくわせ.

• 「眴めくわせ」は現げん代だいではほとんど使つかわれず、代かわりに「目め配くばせ」が用もちいられる。

  眴せ is hardly used today; 目配せ is used instead.
