arrector pili muscle
Anatomical term for the tiny smooth muscle attached to a hair follicle; contraction causes goosebumps. The Latin plural form 'erectores pilorum' is also used in medical contexts.
When it's cold or you feel fear, the arrector pili muscles contract and you get goosebumps.
