A set phrase used to acknowledge that something has both positive and negative aspects, or to say that something is true irrespective of whether it is good or bad. Often used when evaluating a situation or person.

A set phrase combining the adverbial forms of 良い (よい, good) and 悪い (わるい, bad) with the particle も, literally 'both well and badly'. The form 悪しく is an older adverbial form of 悪い, now mostly replaced by 悪く in modern Japanese.
