Dated term for a person captured in war or conflict. Modern Japanese more commonly uses 捕虜 (ほりょ) for 'prisoner of war' and 捕らわれ人 (とらわれびと) or 囚人 (しゅうじん) for 'captive' or 'prisoner'.
