Vitis ficifolia; a species of wild grapevine
A wild grapevine species native to East Asia. The name is usually written in katakana as エビヅル.
I found some Vitis ficifolia in the mountains.
Kanji form is rare and may not be widely recognized; the plant is normally written in kana.
The name エビヅル likely derives from the shape of the vine or fruit resembling a shrimp (エビ) and 蔓 (つる, vine). The exact origin is uncertain.
