Historical term for a retainer's act of committing suicide, or preparing to die, in order to remonstrate with or dissuade their feudal lord. Rare in modern usage; appears mainly in historical or literary contexts.
In the Warring States period, there were cases where retainers committed remonstrative suicide to dissuade their lord.
