Archaic poetic term for the situation when rain obscures the moon during the traditional moon-viewing season. Now mostly encountered in classical literature or as a seasonal word.
Archaic name for the fifth month of the lunar calendar, corresponding roughly to June. The kanji 雨月 literally means 'rain month', reflecting the rainy season. Compare with 皐月 (さつき), another old name for the same month.
