Formosan lily
A species of lily native to Taiwan, naturalized in parts of Japan. Scientific name: Lilium formosanum.
Formosan lilies were blooming by the roadside.
Usually written in katakana; the kanji form 高砂百合 exists but is less common.
Kanji spelling; less common than the katakana form.
Named after Takasago (an old name for Taiwan) and 百合 (yuri, 'lily').
