Do not translate 'critical condition' word-for-word as 批判的な状態 (ひはんてきなじょうたい) or 危機的な状態 (ききてきなじょうたい). These would mean 'a state of being critical/judgmental' or 'a state of crisis,' not a medical emergency. Use the set phrases above.
