Translation guide
The English word "latitude" has two main uses: a geographical meaning (distance from the equator) and a figurative meaning (freedom to act). This guide covers both, with natural Japanese equivalents.
The angular distance north or south from the earth's equator, measured in degrees.

Do not use 緯度 (latitude) to express the idea of freedom or discretion. It only refers to geographical latitude. Use 裁量 or 自由 instead.
